About the event

 John MacLaren is well-known for his entertaining chemistry classes. Participants receive protective eyewear, and using safe, common ingredients, will conduct experiments that go POP, FIZZ, and BANG! Watch a sealed container, the “grain elevator,” pop its lid after you add a secret mixture. Watch a model volcano erupt, and then it’s your turn, using your own pocket volcano. Learn how lightning works, and observe chemicals as they change states and shapes. Take home a rock collection as well as a kit that makes crystals and a batch of snow! 

 Ages: 7 – 13 years old
